&Open is thrilled to deliver your special gift straight to you in India! This guide outlines the specific requirements for receiving international shipments in India, as mandated by the Indian government.

For more general information on the process of receiving a cross border &Open gift, please see this link.

Important Note:

For a smooth customs clearance process, please ensure your name entered into the gift platform at redemption exactly matches the name on your government-issued ID (passport or equivalent). &Open's platform will prompt you to confirm this information during the delivery process.

Know Your Customer (KYC):

  • What is it? The KYC process is a mandatory step for all international shipments entering India. It helps Indian customs verify your identity and address.

  • What documents do I need? As an individual, you'll need to provide documents like your Passport, Voter ID, Driver's License, or Permanent Account Number (PAN). Companies will need their Import and Export Certificate (IEC). Full details and accepted documents can be found on the DHL India KYC website: https://www.dhlindia-kyc.com/.

  • How do I submit them? &Open will work with DHL, our shipping partner, to ensure you receive clear instructions on uploading your KYC documents securely through a user-friendly online portal accessible from your desktop or smartphone.

Authorization Letter (POA):

In addition to KYC documents, you'll also need to provide an Authorization Letter (POA). This grants DHL the authority to act on your behalf during customs clearance. &Open will typically handle obtaining the POA for you.

Important to Know:

  • Incomplete KYC or POA: If you don't complete the KYC process or provide the POA, your shipment could be abandoned, destroyed, or incur additional storage and handling charges from both the carrier and customs.

  • Taxes and Duties: Be aware that India has import duties and taxes, typically up to 80% of the item's value plus shipping costs. &Open will not charge you for these fees, but you may be contacted by Indian customs for additional information.

    • Who pays? &Open will not charge you for these fees, but you may be contacted by local customs for additional information.

&Open's Support:

If you have any questions or require assistance with the KYC process or understanding import taxes, please don't hesitate to contact &Open's customer support team via support@andopen.co. We're here to help ensure a smooth delivery of your special gift!
