You can now get &Open gifting activity in Slack. Connect your workspace, and &Open posts a message when a gift is sent, redeemed, delivered, and more, in the channels your team already watches. You choose what each channel hears about, so people stay on top of gifting without leaving Slack.
Connect Slack to &Open
Connecting the workspace is a one-time job for an account administrator.
In &Open, open the Slack settings page from Integrations → Slack.
Choose Connect Slack and sign in to authorize the &Open app for your workspace.
Each &Open account connects to a single Slack workspace.
Add the app to your channels
&Open can only post to a channel once the app is in it. To add it, open the channel in Slack, mention the app by typing @AndOpen, and follow the prompt to add it to the channel. Do this for each channel you want to use for notifications, including private ones.
Set up a notification
Create a notification setup from the Slack settings page in &Open. Each setup answers three questions:
What to hear about — the activity types you care about, such as a gift invitation being created, redeemed, fulfilled, or delivered, or feedback being received.
Whose activity to track — a specific gift sender, or a Campaign.
Where it lands — any public or private Slack channel you have access to.
You can create as many setups as you like, so different channels can follow different activity.
"Gift invitation created" is a busy notification. On a Campaign with 200 recipients, that's 200 messages. We recommend keeping setups tight — for example, only redemptions and deliveries for a single Campaign — so a channel stays useful.
What the notifications look like
Once a setup is live, &Open posts to the chosen channel whenever matching activity happens. Each message summarizes what happened and links back to &Open for the full details.
The &Open app in Slack
Open the &Open app from the Slack sidebar to see its home tab. This is your way into &Open to set up and manage your notifications.
You can also type /andopen status in any channel to see an overview of your gifting metrics for the current month.
Manage your notifications
From the Slack settings page in &Open, you can see and edit the setups you created. You can also see setups pointing to any channel you belong to, though you can't edit ones you didn't create.
Channels you don't have access to stay hidden, along with any notifications pointing to them. So a private channel you're not in never shows up.
Questions and answers
A channel is getting flooded with notifications. How do I quiet it down?
That usually comes from a broad setup, often "gift invitation created" on a large Campaign. Edit the setup to narrow what it reports — for example, only redemptions and deliveries — or scope it to a single gift sender or Campaign.
Why can't I see a notification I know someone set up?
You only see setups for channels you're a member of. If a setup points to a private channel you're not in, it stays hidden. Ask to be added to the channel, or ask the person who created the setup.
Can I connect more than one Slack workspace?
No. Each &Open account connects to a single Slack workspace.
Can I send gifts from Slack?
Not yet. For now the integration keeps you informed about gifting activity. Sending gifts and other interactive features are coming in a later release.
Who can connect our Slack workspace?
An account administrator. Installing the app and authorizing it needs the right access in both &Open and Slack.
