Sending a gift with the &Open MCP

Written by Catherine Walker

You can send a gift from your AI assistant by adding a gift recipient to one of your campaigns. Your assistant shows you a preview first, so you know what will happen before anything goes out.

Sending a gift

Tell your assistant who you'd like to gift and which campaign to use:

"Add sarah@acme.com to my Customer Thank You campaign."

Here's what happens:

  1. Your assistant checks the campaign and shows you a preview card. Nothing has been sent yet.

  2. Look over the preview. To change anything, tell your assistant.

  3. Confirm the send. Your assistant sends the gift with the same details you previewed.

You can paste a campaign link from &Open in place of the campaign name.

What the preview shows

The preview card shows:

  • Who the gift goes to

  • How the gift reaches them

  • What the campaign offers: whether the gift recipient chooses one gift or receives them all, the price range, the countries it ships to, and the gifts themselves

  • The subject line and message in the invitation email, if &Open is sending one

Hover over a gift in the preview for a short description of it.

A preview sends nothing, emails no one and doesn't use any of your budget. Ask for one as often as you like.

How the gift reaches your gift recipient

Each campaign uses one of three methods. Your assistant tells you which one before you send.

  • &Open emails the gift recipient a gift invitation.

  • &Open sends nothing. Your assistant gives you the gift recipient's personal gift link to pass on yourself, and can share it again until the gift is redeemed.

  • The gift ships to an address you supply. You can't add gift recipients to these campaigns from your assistant yet, so send these gifts from &Open.

Writing your own email message

On campaigns where &Open emails the invitation, you can write your own message and subject line for each gift. Tell your assistant what you'd like to say:

"Add sarah@acme.com to my Customer Thank You campaign. Say: Thanks for your time on Tuesday, Sarah. Here's a little something from all of us."

Messages can be up to 1,000 characters and subject lines up to 255. You can change the subject line only if you also write a message.

If you write neither, &Open uses the campaign's default email. If the campaign doesn't have a complete default email, your assistant asks what you'd like to say before sending. It can draft a message if you ask it to.

If a send can't go ahead

Every send from your assistant goes through the same checks as a send in &Open. If you don't have enough gifting budget left, or the gift is out of stock, the send doesn't go through and your assistant tells you why.

Questions and answers

Will my assistant send a gift without asking me?

No. Sending creates a real gift invitation and uses your budget, so your assistant confirms the gift recipient and campaign with you before every send. Your assistant may also show its own approval prompt, depending on its permission settings. That prompt comes from your AI assistant, not from &Open.

Can I pick the exact gift someone receives?

The campaign decides. In some campaigns the gift recipient chooses one gift from a selection, and in others they receive every gift in the campaign. The preview shows which. To change what's on offer, edit the campaign's gift selection in &Open.

Can I send a gift to someone in any country?

Only to the countries the campaign ships to. Campaign cards and the preview both list them. If your gift recipient is somewhere else, ask your assistant which of your campaigns ship there.

Why can't my assistant add someone to this campaign?

The campaign may ship to an address you supply, which your assistant can't send to yet. Add the gift recipient in &Open instead. Your assistant tells you the reason when this happens.

I sent a gift to the wrong person. What can I do?

If the gift hasn't been redeemed, you can ask your assistant to cancel it.
