Connecting your BambooHR database to the &Open gifting platform is easy and only takes a couple of minutes.
When you begin the linking process, you’ll be given two options — “I want to authenticate through BambooHR's website. (Recommended)”, and “I want to use my API Key or Access Token.” Using the first option is more straightforward, as you simply need to follow the steps to log in to the BambooHR software, and enable a connection between the &Open platform and the Bamboo system.
User Access Levels
If your user access level in BambooHR is “Full access”, then this is all you’ll have to do. We’ll be able to begin synchronising the required data fields and will send you an email when your first synchronisation is complete.
If you have an access level lower than Full Access, like Manager or Custom Access Level, the data you can pass over to the gifting platform may be limited. See the section below on Configuring required fields to make sure that the data we need to send out gift invitations is enabled for your connection.

Log in and click on your name in the upper right-hand corner of any page to get to the user context menu. Click on the API Keys link in the dropdown menu. It is important to be either have "Full Admin" access or in a custom access level for "All Levels".
2. Click Add New Key in the upper left corner.
3. Input a name (e.g., “AndOpen gifting platform”), and then click Generate Key.
4. Copy the API key that appears, and add it back in to the linking window.
Configuring required fields
When you perform the linking process using either of the methods mentioned above, the account access level that your own user account has will also apply to the connection between BambooHR and the gifting platform.
If you don't have sufficient access in BambooHR to synchronise the data you need for your gifting projects, you will need to request a higher level of access within your company, or invite a user from your company who has the required level of access to your gifting platform to perform the linking process for you.
If you have an “Employee” access level, then you will only see your own data synched on the gifting platform.
If you have “Manager” access level, you will see the details of your indirect + direct reports.
If you have “Custom Access Level”:
You should set your Access Level to view "All Employees", otherwise the data synced will have required fields missing.
You should allow View Access to information you would want to be synced.
You should allow Access to view your own profile information as well to ensure your record is also synced.
As a reminder, our HR integrations access only the absolute minimum data from your HR system to enable gifting workflows. You can see a list of the data we access and do not access. The fields we read in are either required to send gift invitations (e.g., names and email addresses), or are required to help you search and filter within your staff to find the right recipients (team names, offices etc.).
If you need to change these access level details later on, to include additional fields that weren’t enabled in your initial sync, these will be picked up in the next synchronisation. We sync your data every few hours to ensure we have the latest data to work with.
Entering our connection details
Once you’ve authenticated by either the login method or via an API key, we'll connect the two systems and begin to sync your data. You’ll receive an email from the platform within a few minutes once the initial sync is done and you’re ready to start gifting! Go to the campaign tool to begin using your new integration.
